The instruction to be at the airport one hour before, was repeated for emphasis, but 90 minutes proved inadequate. Unpredictable traffic and a major build-up, made missing the flight inevitable. An alternative route enabled arrival less than 30 minutes to flight time, when hope of still making that flight was officially over. As he crossed the barricade to the check-in counter, the end of boarding was announced.
