He took a look at the few cards in his sitting room at Christmas and wondered. Just the year before and at the height of his celebrated career in public office, cards and hampers came in various shapes and sizes. Now out of office, it dawned on him that in spite of the flowery personalized messages, those cards had little to do with any affection for his person.

Christmas is about Jesus, the friend for all seasons.
